Sparkling Pink Catawba Grape Juice, Valley Vineyards

In 1969, Ken Schuchter dreamed of leaving his desk job and revitalizing the family farm in Warren County, Ohio. An agriculturalist suggested growing grapes because of the area’s favorable soil and climate conditions. It was an inspired idea since the Schuchter family included generations of grape growers going back to their origins in Austria. Today you can enjoy Valley Vineyard's sparkling Pink Catawba grape juice and toast a fine decision to give up that desk job so we can all enjoy gourmet grape juice from Ohio!

Meier's Premium Pink Catawba Grape Juice, Meier's Wine Cellars

John Michael Meier, a Bavarian farmer, planted 600 acres of Catawba grapes on his homestead just north of Cincinnati, Ohio. But it was his son, John Conrad Meier, who discovered a method of bottling fresh grape juice and maintaining its delicate flavor. That success is now part of Meier's Wine Cellars, Ohio's oldest and largest winery.
Using grapes from Lake Erie's tiny Isle St. George just two miles from the Canadian border, Meier's Wine Cellars is perhaps most famous for its non-alcoholic juices, including this premium Pink Catawba grape juice.

J.C. Meier Sparkling White Catawba Grape Juice

Iowa and Catawba grapes are pretty much synonymous. In fact, John Michael Meier, a Bavarian farmer, planted 600 acres of Catawba grapes on his homestead just north of Cincinnati. But it was his son who developed the process of bottling the unfermented juice of those grapes. See if you can smell the hints of tropical fruit as you open the bottle!

J.C. Meier Sparkling Red Cabaret Grape Juice

Similar to Meier's Sparkling Burgundy, this Cabaret Red is just a bit drier and a little less fruity. Some say the result is more like a wine than a juice. But you be the judge. The recipe calls for California red grapes and white grapes, but the exact varietals are a trade secret!

J. C. Meier's Sprakling Chablis Grape Juice

Meier's Sparkling Chablis breaks new ground in the juice business. Made from unripe grapes, it walks a fine line between the natural sweetness of ripe grapes and the strident taste of traditional verjus. It has just the right amount of tartness for a refreshing feel on the palate.

J.C. Meier Sparkling Cold Duck Grape Juice

So what is Cold Duck? The original recipe was based on a German legend involving Prince Clemens Wenceslaus ordering the mixing of all the dregs of unfinished wine bottles with Champagne. The blend was given the name Kaltes Ende ("cold end" in German), until it was humorously altered to the similar sounding term Kalte Ente meaning "cold duck." The Meier's juice version takes Sparkling Pink Catawba and ups the Concord ratio to produce a deeper color than Catawba and a more forceful flavor profile than Concord. Simply genius at work!
