Delaware Grape Juice
The Delaware grape was found in Ohio's Delaware County in the early 1800s. The clusters of this American grape are small; however, with proper care it may produce yields as high as its Concord cousin. The vines are vigorous and hardy which makes them ideal for cold winter climates like upstate New York. In the past Delaware was prized for champagne production in New York. Today it is used primarily for juice and wine. With its mild flavor it is said to have the best fruity notes when compared to Catawba, and Concord. Though the fruit is light pink in color, it is processed as a white grape.
