October is a great month! It's the calm after all of summer's outdoor activities, vacations, and back-to-school rush. It's also the lull before the November, December, and January holidays. For many folks October signals fall colors, summer heat waves that are finally moderating, and the preparation for winter's snows.
So catch your breath. Take a chilled bottle of juice from the refrigerator and pour it into your favorite goblet. Find that favorite chair. And think of what was during Summer 2008 and what will be during the upcoming holidays. Then let it all go and think about those people in your life you treasure the most. Maybe one is even sitting beside you.
John Michael Meier, a Bavarian farmer, planted 600 acres of Catawba grapes on his homestead just north of Cincinnati, Ohio. But it was his son, John Conrad Meier, who discovered a method of bottling fresh grape juice and maintaining its delicate flavor. That success is now part of Meier's Wine Cellars, Ohio's oldest and largest winery.
Using grapes from Lake Erie's tiny Isle St. George just two miles from the Canadian border, Meier's Wine Cellars is perhaps most famous for its non-alcoholic juices, including this premium Catawba grape juice.
